Reflection 4-Riley Jaquin-Class 1-The Global Movement

Social media makes its way around the world faster than we know. Im sure we have all heard of the tide pod challenge, a silly, yet dangerous social media challenge that made its way across the world so fast.

A more purposeful challenge like the ALS ice bucket challenge, which raises awareness for ALS also made its way across the world very fast as well. As we can all see, social media is almost a necessity to spread word of these challenges, which in the end is helpful or hurtful.

Lets start with the very popular and very dangerous challenge that took over social media. The tide pod challenge, we have all probably heard on the Kylie Jenner lip challenge as well, and the cinnamon challenge too, all of these challenges could be detrimental to ones health, but when people see these things on the internet, they try to take part in them.

The ALS ice bucket challenge is one of many that has surfaced social media and has risen awareness for a disease, and has raised a lot of money for they ALS association. Another challenge that has surfaced the internet for the better is the “Trashtag” challenge, a challenge consisting of a picture of a littered area before and after cleanup that is then posted on social media for many more to participate in.
